Treated wasp nest smells weeks after

It is rare to have a smell coming from a treated nest; however, in hot years, wasps collect large amounts of water to aid in cooling the nest.
If the nest is very damp during treatment, it can sometimes smell damp and musty. This smell will soon disappear as the nest dries out.

Are wasps susceptible to heat?

Adult wasps can endure reasonably high temperatures; however, wasp larvae need a constant temperature to survive.
Adults will collect large amounts of water when it is hot to cool the nest.

We have plastic 'vents' spaced out across the back of our house, about 7feet high. Today, we have noticed what appears to be wasps going in and out of these holes.

From April through to June, if you have plastic weep vents installed in the brickwork of your house and insects are using them. They are most probably bee mason bees.
Mason bees like tiny holes in which they lay their eggs. Plastic weep vents are the perfect size for mason bees.

I have seen a wasp fly in to hole in my wall. Are they building a nest?

If you have seen a single wasp fly into a hole in a wall, do not panic. Watch and see what happens for a while. Is there just one? Or more than one?
If it is early spring, it could be a queen looking for somewhere to nest and has not started building yet.
If more than one goes in and out later in the summer, you have a nest.

Do wasps come out at night?

Wasp are not actively flying at night but do not sleep like humans.
Summer late-night parties in the garden with bright lights will attract wasps from their nests which can become a problem.

If you wake before dawn, open the bathroom window and put the light on, if you have a closeby nest, there is a risk that wasps will fly into the bathroom, even if it is still dark outside.

This offer is only applicable if treated at the time of the original callout. So, if you have multiple nests on your property, call us, and we can discuss a fixed price to handle all the nests in a single visit.

We are certified and fully insured professionals, and all our work comes with a guarantee. Payment is due upon completing the job, and please note that we do not accept bank transfers. Additionally, no value-added tax (VAT) is applied to our charges.

Please ensure that you have correctly identified the species of flying insect causing concern before contacting us. If you are not certain, you can send us a clear photo, and we will be happy to assist in identifying the issue. Alternatively, you can call us, and we will discuss the problem and provide advice.

We strongly advise against using proprietary products you may have purchased to treat the nest, as this action can often lead to disastrous consequences. If you decide to embark upon this often hazardous endeavor, please do not call us to sort out the frequently dangerous aftermath.

When you book our services, we will assign you an approximate morning or afternoon time slot. We promise to be there as scheduled and kindly request that you be present at home to ensure a smooth process.

For safety reasons, we recommend keeping children and pets indoors and closing windows and doors during and for several hours after treatment. Please keep in mind that we work weekends, so if you discover a nest in your garden during the weekend (Saturday or Sunday), give us a call, and we will make every effort to respond to your situation as soon as possible.
